Leaving a gift in your Will, no matter the shape or amount, is an enduring way to help RISING thrive and to be enjoyed by future generations.
WHAT IS A BEQUEST?
A Bequest is a donation left to a charity of your choice, given via your Will. RISING values every gift, no matter what shape or amount, and it could include:
- A portion of your estate
- A sum of money
- Property
- Stocks and shares
- Works of art or valuable collections
- A life insurance policy, annuities or trust.
Often people feel that they do not have the means during their lifetime to help others as much as they would like to. Leaving a gift in your estate will provide vital support to RISING without affecting your independence and self-sufficiency today.
HOW ARE BEQUESTS USED BY RISING?
Bequests enable RISING to plan for its future with confidence and focus on the long-term curation and delivery of the festival.
By remembering RISING in your Will, you give the gift of inspiring experiences and opportunities for generations to come. Your legacy will make a real contribution to a creative future for the benefit of all.
Unless indicated otherwise, your gift will be directed to support RISING’s ongoing curatorial vision and delivery of the annual festival. This enables us to use your gift with the highest level of flexibility and ensures it makes a lasting and valuable impact on Melbourne, its artists and its audiences. If you have a particular purpose in mind for your gift, however, please contact us to discuss your wishes.
HOW TO LEAVE A GIFT TO RISING IN YOUR WILL
If you choose to include a gift to the RISING in your Will, we recommend that you do so after first making provision for family and loved ones.
You can include a gift to RISING when you write your Will. If you already have a Will, you can add a codicil (a legal provision) to include the bequest. For assistance on Will writing and amendment, we recommend that you consult a solicitor, a trustee or accredited Wills and estate specialist.
Here is an example of the type of language you can use:
I, (insert name) give, devise and bequeath free of all duties and taxes [select the appropriate option below]
a) the whole (or _____ %) of the residue of my estate
b) the whole (or _____ %) of my estate
c)the sum of $ _____
d)_____ [insert number] of my _____ [insert name of specific asset(s), e.g. property or shares] to Melbourne International Festival of the Arts Limited (ABN 41 058 535 863) for RISING Melbourne, of Level 2, 377 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, free of all duties and deductions, for its general purposes. The receipt of that organisation shall be deemed proof of payment to my executors.

Your act of generosity will be recognised online, in programs and Annual Reports, unless you wish to remain anonymous.
Should you wish to make a significant gift in your Will, we would be happy to discuss appropriate acknowledgement.
We understand that your Will is a private document and any information you provide will be treated with respect and confidentiality.
