David Woods Answers the Call

Fri 2 October

In his A Call To Artists submission video, David Woods imagines mud-drenched chaos on a massive scale.

Art and artists are in a precarious place. But with help they have the power to regenerate, mutate and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

In this submission for RISING’s A Call To Artists (ACTA) program, theatre-maker David Woods imagines work on a gigantic, mud-drenched scale. It’s Heironymus Bosch meets infected cruise ships, for a 9-hour performance reclaiming culture, justice and democracy.

RISING launched its ACTA program as a response to the pandemic. We asked for bold ideas that can begin work now. From more 1100 applications we have seed-funded 101 concepts and 22 creative developments.
