The sound of Sydney’s underground, emanating from beyond lockdown—a city that can’t be silenced.
With the city in lockdown, Sydney’s musicians are unable to tour or fill its band rooms and clubs. But its music can’t be silenced entirely. This playlist is a small acknowledgement of solidarity with the harbour city’s bands, producers, DJs and rappers.
The playlist is as diverse as the city itself. From the solemn beginnings of Chris Abrahams’ haunting piano, the track selection takes a dive into Andy Rantzen’s atmospheric dub, and gentle breakbeats care of Logic1000. In its mid-section you’ll find Party Dozen’s doom-laden saxophone and drums; and ONEFOUR’s irrepressible rap, documenting life in Mount Druitt, in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. Keep on listening for GODTET’s fresh waves of antipodean jazz.
