School Holidays at The Rink
Riverside DJs and double the ice plus delicious treats for parents and kids alike, mean The Rink at RISING is ready to glide into the school holidays
Kicking off Friday 23 June and running until to Saturday 8 July, RISING’s winter School Holiday Program is packed with exciting free and low-cost family activities that skate beyond the June festival dates.
Kids and grown-ups of all ages are invited to slice up the ice on a new double-sized rink that’s frozen under a deep constellation of lights and flanked by Melbourne’s glistening city skyline.

Activities
RISING’s School Holiday Program will host DJing sessions that bring a mix of disco, boogie, funk, Afro, Latin, Cumbia, yacht groove, and pop. Meanwhile beginners through to experienced ice-skaters can level-up with ice skating lessons and demonstrations from professional coaches.
Off the ice there’ll be free workshops in the holiday period where budding artists can join Jenna Lee—the artist behind RISING’s 2023 moon design—to make their own bubbly-lunar scapes using ink, straw and paper. Or they can draw on, write on and reflect on giant mirror installations with the team from Playable Streets.
FOOD
The Rink Food Hall is free to enter and will be serving hot-buttered popcorn, hot dogs—including classic and vegan options— and loaded fries from Hot Dog Deli, wood-fired pizza from Fugazi, Pie Thief hot pies, chips and dips by Chappy’s and Free to Feed and crepes from Crepes for Change. There’ll also be Manny's Doughnuts and Cha Time Bubble Tea and soft serve on offer.
Drinks include a range of non-alcoholic options like a wide selection of Mörk Chocolate hot chocolates, St Ali coffee and tea by Mabu Mabu, low sugar softies from Bobby and tinnies from Heaps Normal. From The Rink’s fully stocked bar, there are Archie Rose cocktails, as well as mulled wine, and Bodriggy beer and a rotation of wines on tap curated by Glou Sustainable Wine Bar.
